Semester 1: Week 4
For this week, we decided to have a finished Whitebox with shaders, UI elements, and a level laid out to get a more complete idea for the game’s movement, including jumping, wall running and a working gun with a reload function and firing effects. A gun model was made for a futuristic revolver the player would use.
We got the gun shooting code working alongside a time slowdown mechanic and particle effects for firing and impacts. Basic reload animations and mechanics have also been implemented. The basic movement was also implemented to showcase the test level layout.
The narrative was beginning to take shape as well. A concept where the current world is inhabited by robots living in robot bodies was developed, with the player dying and going to hell, only to be enhanced by a lowlife and pathetic demon in the hopes that the demon could use the player to further his goals.
