Semester 1: Week 5
The demon creature was developed visually and decided to be the avatar for our social media that was also set up this week. The player’s robotic arm was developed and created and another gun was created, an automatic rifle. The name “Belial" was chosen for the name of the demon character, the name of a creature in the film “Basket Case”, in Hebrew the name translates as “worthless”, “never to rise” and “yokeless”. A model was made of the head and basic texturing was done. The movement was refined more this week from our preliminary tests from the week before. The gun now does damage to objects and a weapon swap mechanic was introduced and completed.
The story of the game was also finalized:
Neon Demon is a first-person shooter based in a futuristic science-fiction city. The game follows Duane, a sleazy, down-on-his-luck character who was killed on the job and sent to hell. In hell, the player is befriended by a floating demon skull named Belial, who not only acts as the player’s sidekick but also enhances the player character with cybernetic improvements so that he can return to earth and seek revenge on those who wronged him.
Equipped with new hellish abilities (such as being able to travel between dimensions and slow down time around him) and cybernetic enhancements, the player fights enemies and kills bosses to progress. As the player uses their abilities more and more, hell begins to bleed over into the normal world – billboards begin advertising hell, demons wander the streets etc.
